George Hill Timber History

Over the years the company has continued to grow, opening branches in Sale, Bolton and more recently Nelson in 2002

Amongst the qualities which have led to ths company's growth is its dedication to quality. Timber is sought from all over the world and only the highest quality is selected for purchase by the company

But it has also been the little touches that have made the difference between success and failure. George Hill believes that all items on its stock list should actually be in stock, so that a customer is never kept waiting. They also offer a free delivery service on items too large to carry.

The company has invested heavily in technology giving it the flexibility to produce period mouldings from both softwood and hardwood which cater for the trade and DIY enthusiast alike.

Now run by the founder's grandson, a third George Hill and with a fourth generation, George's daughter and son William, now involved , the firm intends to expand its customer base still further, building on the solid foundations layed down by Wilfred and George Frank Hill. Read More
